September has been a crazy-busy month for me, and the first few weeks of October are shaping up to be just as busy. Despite this, I did manage to get a fair bit of reading done:
In September I read:
The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
Geek Girl by Holly Smale
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers
Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger
Antigoddess by Kendare Blake
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
Secret Breakers: The Power of Three by H.L Dennis
Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist by David Levithan
Favourite book of September:
The runaway winner is Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. No, that wasn't a mistake up there, I really did read the book twice. In fact, I loved it SO MUCH I read it twice in one weekend. It was perfect. I am resisting the temptation to read it again.
Bought:
(picked up at her launch)
(picked up at his London event)
(have been wanting to read for ever, bought on the Books Are My Bag launch day)
(I had this already but gave it away as I wanted to buy a copy to support the author. Also bought on Books Are My Bag Launch Day)
Just in Case, The Bride's Farewell, What I Was, How I Live Now by Meg Rosoff
(I hate the really generic, totally bland covers but 4 books for £6.99!)
Every Day by David Levithan (forgot to put it in the picture as it was in my bag)
I bought this to read before his event next week!
The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater (also forgot to put it in the picture)
(Finally have a copy of this!! Loved The Raven Boys so am excited for this, I'm gonna save it for next weekend for a treat after my hectic week)

(I loved Dash & Lily so was keen to read another Cohn/Levithan offering, especially ahead of the David Levithan event early next month)
(am trying to read more middle grade and heard really good things about this series)
Thoughts on the month:
I am actually really pleased with my progress this month! Ten books is a decent amount; especially considering how busy I've been. I read 2 books from work (Antigoddess and Secret Breakers - I am slowly working my way through our list) and I read 2 books I bought the previous month (Grave Mercy and Etiquette & Espionage). I read 2 books I didn't think I would like and really enjoyed (The Bone Season and Geek Girl) and I finally, finally finished TKONLG after 2 failed attempts (enjoyed it more than I expected, but not as much as everyone else seems to).
Aside from Geek Girl which was a ridiculous 99p on Kindle and the Meg Rosoff books which were an insanely good deal from Red House (4 books for £6.99!), all the books I acquired this month were from the library or from high street bookshops which I am really proud of. After buying most of the books this month, Stacey from The Pretty Books and I decided to go on a book buying ban. Of course, we both like buying books too much to have an outright ban, so we set some rules: 3 vetoes (I used one to buy The Dream Thieves, Stacey has used ALL hers and still has a month to go!), allowed to buy books we have already read (doesn't add to our TBR piles) and events do not count (cause it is rude to go to a book launch/event and NOT buy the book!) We'll be keeping this book ban till the end of October.
How did you all do this month?
You read a bunch of books I want to read! I think I'll end up reading Fangirl although initially I didn't think it was my type, just because I've been hearing the most amazing things about it. You did pretty well tho. And libraries are amazing.

I LOVED Fangirl too!. I didn't read it twice, though I'll definitely read it again at some point. :-) Ahhhh Levi <3
ReplyDeleteI've read a bit of a random mix this month, think I'm averaging about 17 books a month (eek). I'm going back to some Urban Fantasy for my next read, Magic Bites.
You definitely read some good books and I love the style of your wrap-up!
ReplyDeleteDid you like Nick & Norahs?
I guess I should get on with reading Fangirl, eh?
Also... antigoddess! I bought that this month, was it good? Should I read ASAP?
Good luck on the buying ban! Hope it goes well. I should probably be doing the same! hehe.

Love Geek Girl! I keep hearing good things about Fangirl so I guess I really must give that one a read. And I could never get on with TKONLG either - glad to see someone else had the same problem, as the whole of the internet seems to love it :P I'll look out for your review!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading, Cait!
Pretty good month! I've got Antigoddess to read still, please tell me it is amazing! And I've pre-ordered Fangirl paperback but I do have Eleanor and Park to read so I am definitely on the Rainbow Rowell fangirl bandwagon!
ReplyDeleteFangirl was my favourite book read in September too! It looks like you bought some great books I'm really excited to read More Than This and The Dream Thieves and I LOVED Every Day and Geek Girl. I hope October is another great month for reading and that you stick to your book buying ban!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that Fangirl was your favourite of the month because it's a favourite of mine too! Yay!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck for October, Cait!
