Follow Friday

I'm sure you all know about this fantastic meme by now! But incase not; head over to Parajunkee's blog for the full story! =]

This week's question is:

"Do you have anyone you can discuss books with IRL? Tell us about them."

Well,I'm quite lucky in the sense that a fair few of my friends read. But the person I most talk about books with is my friend Amy. We've been friends a long time; we met in High School when we were like 12/13ish and we've always had a very similar taste in books! We go to different uni's now; but we always meet up when we're home to swap books and talk about our favourite reads/upcoming releases etc. We're constantly recommending and lending books to each other. She actually introduced me to several of my favourite series' and I hope I introduced her to enough in return!! The best thing about having a RL friend who loves the same books as you is getting twice as many for half the price!! Although; we often buy the same books because we both want our own copies (we're book hoarders) and we can't wait to get whichever book it is off the other!!  I love having a RL friend to discuss books with!

Do you guys have someone you can talk books with? share share share!!

Don't forget to enter my international giveaway to win a copy of Born At Midnight by C.C Hunter!!!

Also on my blog this week: Review of The Restorer by Amanda Stevens (this is my fave book of the year so far, and my fave debut for quite a while!!)
and, inspired by the Restorer; some examples of my terrible photography!! haha enjoy and happy weekend guys!!!

  1. Hopping through. I wish I had a good group of friends who loved to read. Also...random question. If you go by Cait instead of Caitlin, do people have trouble pronouncing the name when they see it written? I assume no one ever spells it right. Sorry for the weird question. I'm really into names.

  2. Hi Alison! No-one's ever asked me that question! But yeah; a lot of people find it difficult to pronounce-(I usually get Katlin) but even more difficult to spell! I can't count the misspellings of it I've had over the years. However when I introduce myself in person I would always use Caitlin- but another reason for going by Cait is pure laziness-most people call it me cause they can't be bothered to use my whole name ahaha. But my parents still insist on calling me by "the beautiful name we gave you"

  4. Jealous! I totally wish I had a friend who loves books as much as I do. I'm usually the one loaning out all my books, because I usually have all the ones people want to read. I'd love to have someone to share with! :)

  5. It took one of my BFFs forever to get into the same genre as me! I've been reading UF since I was 13 and now ten years later she's finally hooked into the same!

    Here's my Friday Hops

  7. I wish I had a friend like yours to chat about books with! I make do with my lovely Dad, although his tastes are a bit more limited than mine.

  8. It's me. I'm feeling quite appreciated right now. You failed to mention that since uni you've become my lit guru dear. Cait has great taste.

Back to the dissertation, in a much better mood than i was in before.

  9. Sounds fantastic that you have a such a good friend you can discuss books with.

In the US, we start high school at 14 or 15. Do you start younger? I'm always fascinated with English, or even European, schools because they're so different than US ones.

  10. Hey Jenni Elyse!

well here in England the usual system is: primary school from 4 till 11, then high school from 11/12 till 16. That's the end of compulsory education-and then we can go onto college or sixth form which traditionally takes you up to 18 (but some go upto 19 and of course there are many adult learner courses)
then the traditional age to go to university is 18-21 and completing a standard 3 year course. Though some are longer such as medicine, engineering, languages and architecture. It's then possible to go onto do a Masters; which is usually year. Hope that helps!

  11. I would have done a happy joy dance if I had a friend to talk books with in high school. My high school was strictly sports and pep--totally not my style.

    Love your blog. Following.

  15. I swap books with quite a few of my blogger friends too. It's a great way to be able to read more books! Not that I don't already have plenty.

  16. Hello!! Thanks for dropping by my blog, Novel Addiction! I'm your newest follower.

I think a book swap would be fun! But I'm a little protective of my books (even ones I'm willing to giveaway!), so I would want to know the person they're going to, instead of using something like paperback swap. Does that make me weird? :( Lol.

Hope you're having a great weekend!

  17. Thanks for stopping by my blog! :D I'm a new follower of yours now. ;3 I'm so picky about the condition of my books that I'd probably be terrible about swapping books with friends--unless they were picky too. xD However, I can definitely relate to book hoarding! It's just so nice to have your own copy. :)
